![]() By going back to those familiar cues, she will understand that you are asking her to go to sleep and will be reassured that you leaving is not a problem. Remember, your sleep training strategy (whether very interactive, or more hands off) was your way of letting your baby know that you would be available if she had a problem and was a way to cue her to sleep. If your baby is still having a lot of trouble going to sleep on her own and separation anxiety seems relatively mild, then go back to the sleep intervention you used when you taught your baby to sleep independently the first time, and she should remember what to do. If she starts to cry hard as you leave the room, then test the waters a bit by going in the room, repeating the end of your bedtime routine and leaving again to see if this does the trick.
